PERTH CITY HIGHLINE, WA

Perth

Description

The Perth Highline is Perth's version of the famous New York Highline, an elevated green pedestrian link connecting the City's attractions. The Perth Highline proposes to link the TAFE Campus, Cultural Precinct, Central Train Station, Retail Core and ultimately through to Elisabeth Quay (refer to concept plans).

The Perth Highline runs north-south and utilises a portion of the existing elevated walkways (to be widened) crossing the Perth Train Station and adjacent to Myers. The Perth Highline will also link to the pending Carillon Redevelopment Project incorporating a green podium-level public space. The concept is to cascade the Carillon's green public space onto widened walkways and create an experiential, interactive and engaging public walkway as a critical public space attraction in the heart of the City.

The Perth Highline will be the main pedestrian spine through the City and consolidate the central transport hub with the adjacent Retail Core and Cultural Precinct. Side green links will also connect with the new ECU Campus, James, Francis and Aberdeen Streets to create a Green Campus Precinct.
