ZAYED NATIONAL MUSEUM, UAE

TOURISM DEVELOPMENT INVESTMENT COMPANY (TDIC) (1.2 BILLION USD)

Description

Designed by renowned architects Foster + Partners, the Zayed National Museum reflects Sheikh Zayed's (father of the UAE Nation) love of falconry and creates an iconic national symbol. Cutting-edge design, materials and construction methods are combined to create a spectacular addition to the Saadiyat Island skyline. Each steel feather, the tallest of which rises 125 metres, will contain a gallery space where visitors can explore the history and culture of the UAE. The building will be surrounded by water and set within landscaped gardens, creating a destination for all and a worthy tribute to the memory of Sheikh Zayed (https://youtu.be/JSmoFElTNDU).

The Zayed National Museum includes five galleries, restaurants, convention rooms, retail shops and sculpture park/reflection gardens. The Museum has been designed to meet a LEED Gold rating.

Foundation works for the main museum building, and basements were completed in 2011. Works on the iconic Museum structure will commence mid-2015 and be completed in late 2018. The estimated cost of the project when completed is 1.8 Billion USD
