Description

King Abdallah Economic City (KAEC) has a total development area of 180 km² and is located on the Red Sea around 100 km north of Jeddah. KAEC was identified as a key strategic Economic City as part of an ambitious "10x10" program to place Saudi Arabia among the world's top ten competitive investment destinations by 2020. The first stage of the city was completed in 2010, and the whole town is planned to be fully completed by 2030. The city aims to diversify the nation's oil-based economy by bringing direct foreign and domestic investments. The city is also aspiring to help create up to one million jobs. KAEC is the largest Real Estate project in the world and, once completed, will be larger than Washington DC.


KAEC's total cost is around $300 billion SAR, with the project being built by Emaar Properties, the world's largest real estate company and the Developer of the world's largest mall (Dubai Mall) and tallest building (Burj Khalifa).
