CONSTRUCTION VILLAGE, UAE

TOURISM DEVELOPMENT INVESTMENT COMPANY (TDIC) (580 MILLION USD)

Description

The Saadiyat Construction Village (SCV) has become a benchmark for best practices in worker welfare for the region, boasting state-of-the-art leisure facilities, such as shops, an internet café, recreational parks, a cricket pitch, and landscaped gardens. The village currently houses more than 20,000 workers; this number is set to increase to 40,000 by the end of 2012 as construction ramps up on the museums in the Cultural District.

The SCV is the first of its kind in the region. It led the way in sustainable design and world-class accommodation for facilities of this scale. Moreover, the project became a barometer for large-scale accommodation facilities like it, which are being developed in future.
